Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field, where one team takes turns batting and the other team fields. The objective of the batting team is to score runs by hitting the ball, thrown by the pitcher of the opposing team, and running around a series of four designated bases arranged in a diamond shape.

The field consists of an infield, where the bases and the pitcher’s mound are located, and an outfield, which extends beyond the infield. The pitcher throws the ball toward the batter, who tries to hit it with a bat. If the batter successfully hits the ball, he must run to the bases in a counterclockwise direction, while the fielding team attempts to catch the ball and get the batter or base-runners out by touching the respective bases or tagging them.

Scoring occurs when a player successfully reaches home plate after touching all four bases. A baseball game is typically played over nine innings, with teams alternating between batting and fielding. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins. Baseball is known for its strategic play, statistics, and traditions and is a popular sport in many countries, especially in the United States, where it is often referred to as “America’s pastime.”
