Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily known as soccer in some countries, particularly the United States and Canada. The game is played on a rectangular field, typically grass, with a goal at each end. The objective is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal, using any part of the body except for the hands and arms, unless one is the goalkeeper.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is known for its emphasis on skill, teamwork, and strategy, with matches typically divided into two halves of 45 minutes each. It has widespread appeal and is played at both amateur and professional levels across the globe, with major international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup showcasing the sport’s global popularity. Football also promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making it one of the most celebrated and widely followed sports worldwide.
