Islamski kalendar

Islamski kalendar, also known as the Hijri or lunar calendar, is a calendar system used by Muslims around the world to determine the dates of religious events and observances. It is based on the lunar cycle, consisting of 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days. The months of the Islamic calendar are Muharram, Safar, Rabi’ al-Awwal, Rabi’ al-Thani, Jumada al-Awwal, Jumada al-Thani, Rajab, Sha’ban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhu al-Qi’dah, and Dhu al-Hijjah. The Islamic calendar begins from the Hijra, which marks the migration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. Due to its lunar nature, the Islamic calendar shifts approximately 10 to 12 days earlier each year in relation to the Gregorian calendar, affecting the timing of Islamic holidays such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as well as the month of fasting during Ramadan. Its use is crucial for the organization of religious practices, rituals, and festivals within Islam.
