FA Cup

The FA Cup, or Football Association Challenge Cup, is an annual knockout competition in English football. Established in 1871, it is the oldest football tournament in the world. The FA Cup is open to all eligible clubs from the Premier League, the English Football League, and various regional leagues, allowing teams from different levels of the football pyramid to compete against each other. The tournament is characterized by its dramatic single-elimination format, where teams compete in matches over a series of rounds leading to a final. The winner of the FA Cup earns a place in the next season’s UEFA Europa League, making it a prestigious tournament in English football. The final is traditionally held at Wembley Stadium in London. The FA Cup is known for its unpredictability and the potential for lower-league teams to upset higher-ranked opponents, often referred to as “giant-killings.”
